Az Aerosmith egy amerikai hard rock zenekar, mely hagyományos rhytm&blues alapú rockot játszik. Több évtizeden keresztül markánsan jelen vannak a zenei életben. A sok stílusváltás ellenére is meg tudták őrizni sajátos arculatukat. Míg a korai érát a rhythm and blues és a bluesalapú hard rock jellemezte, addig a 80-as években már poposabb és AOR-osabb felhanggal is megszólaltak a hard rock mellett.
Közel négy évtizedes pályafutásuk alatt generációk sztárzenekaraira voltak óriási hatással, kezdve a Guns N’ Roses-tól a Metallica-ig, a Mötley Crüe-től a Nirvana-ig. Amerika egyik legsikeresebb és legnagyobb múltra visszatekintő zenekara. Innen ered a rájuk agatott America's Greatest Rock and Roll Band, azaz Amerika Legnagyobb Rock and Roll bandája szlogen is.
Népszerűségüket a '90-es években és az új évezredben is meg tudták őrizni, a mai napig teltházas stadionkoncerteket adnak. Pályájuk során 27 daluk került fel a Top 40-es listákra és több mint 150 millió lemezt adtak el. 2001-ben kerültek be a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame-be.
